🪡 The Common Thread Issue 22

Hey Reader!

Lately, I’ve been pouring my heart into something I’m really excited about. It’s called Sewing Week, and it’s a 6-day online workshop starting on May 11th where we’ll be sewing a beautiful knit dress together using the sewing machine you already have.

If knit fabric has ever made you nervous or you’ve thought you needed a fancy serger to get started, I promise this will change the way you think about sewing knits!

During the week we will be sewing the Margo dress from one of my favorite pattern companies, Sustainable Cloth Co. They have been SO generous to give this pattern to anyone who signs up for Sewing Week!

For just $10, you’ll get the adult AND children's pattern (a $25 value!!), daily lessons, technique tutorials, and support from me and the community. It’s designed to help you build confidence and create something you’ll actually want to wear.

Here's a sneak peek at what we'll be sewing!

Sunnyvale

from Little Lizard King/Styla Patterns

This skirt is a summer staple! It's a woven pattern with a shirred back and a tiered layering PLUS it has built in shorts. We are obsessed, and we know you will be too!

Shine Bright Label Co.

Adding labels to your sewing projects levels up the game BIG TIME, especially with these amazing labels from Shine Bright Label Co. They have woven, faux leather, silicone swim labels AND mini packs for when you can't decide which you need.

Pointy corners can make or break a project—they’re one of those little details that instantly take your handmade garment from “homemade” to “handcrafted.” But let’s be real: getting those corners crisp (especially when you’re dealing with bulky seams or multiple fabric layers) can feel like a total pain.

Check out this easy trick to help you master those tricky corners and give your projects that clean, professional finish. It’s simple, quick, and makes a huge difference. Your future hems and necklines will thank you!

Erin

Balancing motherhood and actually having a life and hobbies can be tricky, but we love how easily Erin is able to juggle it all by carving out time to sew. Check out this adorable scrunchie and stuffy bandana set she made for her kiddo.

"I sew at night when my toddler goes to bed on my kitchen table. Building up my sewing skills has helped my confidence. I feel more entrepreneurial and more willing to try more things on the sewing machine."

-Erin

P.S. If knit fabric has ever intimidated you (or your machine has tried to eat it 🙃), Sewing Week is for you! For just $10, you’ll get the Margo Dress pattern (adult and kid sizes), daily step-by-step lessons, live coaching, and a supportive community—all without needing a serger. It kicks off May 11—grab your spot here!

Happy Sewing, Besties! 🪡
