Mother Sews Best

My very first sewing project 🥹 + A free pattern!

Hey Reader!

I remember being around 5 years old and wanting to make something for my sisters birthday. I went into my baby sisters changing table and grabbed the only fabric I could think of- a flat cloth diaper. You know the kind- the ones that our moms pinned on us with saftey pins the size of forks. Still not sure how those kept anything in 💩...

But I found a needle and bright red thread and got to stitching Happy Birthday and 3 big balloons. My stitches were each about an inch long, and the letters were barely legible, but I remember being so proud; proud to give her something that I made.

It was years later that I re-found the love of sewing I have now, but I wish so badly that I had taken that little spark of pride and kept learning to sew as a child!

If you have a creative child (I'm an advocate that EVERY child is creative!) then they may love to learn to sew! And if you don't feel confident teaching them, or just want a structured course to help you teach them then I'd love to have them join Sewing Camp! I can't imagine where my life may have taken me if I'd started sewing 15 years earlier than I did!

You can read all about it here. ❤️

FREE PATTERN ALERT! This pattern is free to all of Threads by Caroline email subscribers and it is the perfect summer tee. It has a loose, boxy fit with dropped shoulders and side seam slits. The best part is it's made with beginners in mind!

Sarah Hearts Labels

Labels can up level any garment and we are in love with Sarah Hearts Labels and Sewing Notions! They are unique and adorable, carrying labels, zipper pulls, patches and more.

Little ones often struggle to reach the foot pedal comfortably while sitting at the sewing machine, and constantly stretching can lead to frustration (and wobbly stitches!)

A simple solution? Place the pedal on a yoga block, sturdy box, or even a stack of books to bring it closer to their feet. This small adjustment can make a big difference in helping kids feel more in control, confident, and comfortable while they sew.

Beau

Beau (age 8) is a star student from Sewing Camp, he has taken his new love for sewing and turned it into a business, selling his handmade creations.

"My son Beau and I loved the sewing camp course. He has been working hard for several weeks to make products to display and sell. He gained so much confidence in sewing through the course, and is still displaying it a year later!"

-Chelsea, Beau's mom

P.S. If you're tired of hearing "I'm bored" from your kiddo, be sure to sign them up for Sewing Camp to help turn that boredom into a fun, new hobby! Click here to learn more!
